Email from TAHDI President Cynthia Alder (sent 7/26/10 at 5:20 p.m.)
As some of you may be aware, AHDI formed a committee entitled Blueprint for Great Governance (BGG) last year to review our structure and how national initiatives are dealt with on a state, regional, and local component level. The questions included, “How can we streamline our organization to better meet the needs of individual members.” The dedicated members of this committee have been working diligently to address concerns of how to develop a sustainable structure. There have been numerous town hall meetings, where members have been invited to review the findings and make suggestions or ask questions.
I am attaching for your review the current findings of the committee, which include a possible regional structure that will allow a representative from each district (or state, where a regional association has not yet been formed) to join the Governors at national who will be directed at large in communicating with component organizations to allow better flow of information between members and the national association leadership. The proposed map is attached.
I am also attaching a preliminary proposal developed by the BGG which includes frequently asked questions that have been asked during the many town hall meetings.
Our Speaker of the House, Bonnie Monico, is preparing another town hall meeting for any remaining individuals who may still have questions or want to offer an opinion on this information.
I would also like to inform you that Elaine Olson, our Texas delegate, has recently had to resign due to personal issues. According to our bylaws, that now makes me your delegate as well as your state President. This means that next week at ACE in Austin, I will be responsible for representing you and voicing your concerns. The House of Delegates will be meeting Tuesday evening as well as most of the day Wednesday of next week to reach a resolution.
In the interest of representing you as best I can, I am hopeful that you will take a moment to review the attached information and respond to me with any questions or concerns before I am asked to vote on these matters next week. If you would like to be involved in the town hall meeting that will be held later this week, please let me know, or contact Lisa Williams, our Board partner, at lisa.williams@TRCR.com and she can also assist you. My contact information is below.
I appreciate your time, and am always happy to be available to you, as Texas AHDI President. I am hopeful that I will see many of you at ACE, as we discuss the future direction of our organization and its importance in healthcare documentation.
