ACE Early Bird Registration Discount Extended through June 15!
The AHDI 32nd Annual Convention & Expo (ACE) will be held August 4-7 in Austin, Texas. This is the first time ACE has been held in Austin and we strongly encourage all MTs in Texas to attend. Did you know that Texas now has over 800 AHDI members? ACE is a great opportunity to get together with your peers and develop both personal and professional relationships. Let's see some great attendance numbers from Texas this year!
There are 4 ways to register, so don't delay:
- Online at the AHDI website. Please note there have been technical issues with online registration and these may persist. For assistance, call 1-800-982-2182 Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. PDT (10 a.m.-7 p.m. CST)
- Over the phone - call the number listed above during AHDI business hours
- Fax the completed Registration Form to 1-209-527-9633
- Mail the completed Registration Form to AHDI (postmarked on or before June 15, 2010, to receive the early bird rate)

Win $100 toward the ACE Registration Fee |
The Capital Chapter is pleased to offer our members the opportunity to win $100 toward their ACE registration fee. We are proud to be investing in our members' professional development by awarding a total of TEN members with $100. This applies to the standard (full) event registration or even just a one-day registration. We've already awarded eight members with a $100 voucher and we will draw 2 more winners at our upcoming meeting on July 17.

The Capital Chapter will have an exhibit table in the ACE Exhibit Hall where we will sell fundraising items and promote our Chapter. We will be seeking member volunteers to help staff our table in one-hour shifts during exhibit hall hours. The table schedule will be distributed in the coming weeks and our members can sign up for specific shifts. We'll be finalizing all ACE plans at our July 17 Capital Chapter meeting, so we hope to see you there!

You are invited to attend our next Capital Chapter meeting on Saturday, July 17, from 9 a.m.-11:45 a.m. at Seton Medical Center in Austin. We will have a guest speaker (to be announced) and we'll also be planning for ACE! Visit our website for more information which will be posted in the coming weeks. There is no charge to attend this meeting. Feel free to bring along an MT friend or MT student!
Special Prize Drawing
We will hold a drawing at the end of the meeting to award two of our chapter members with a $100 voucher toward their ACE registration fee! If you've already registered for ACE, just bring a copy of your receipt to the meeting. If you're one of the lucky winners, you can receive your $100 check at the meeting.
Note: You must be a current Capital Chapter member to be eligible for this special drawing. Not a member yet? No problem! You can join as a new member or renew your chapter membership at the meeting. View membership/dues info in the last section of this newsletter--it's easy to join!
After the meeting, everyone is invited to have lunch together at Santa Rita Cantina--across from Seton on 38th Street--in 26 Doors Shopping Center. Enjoy some extra social time!

CEC Policy Update |

Recently AHDI communicated important policy changes made around the way Certified Medical Transcriptionists (CMTs) earn the required continuing education credits (CECs) necessary to maintain their credential. On May 25, AHDI sent out additional information and clarification in response to questions from members.
CMTs are encouraged to review the new AHDI Recredentialing Resource Guide and the updated CEC Requirements Table.

AHDI Component Town Hall Meetings -Component Restructuring |
Have you attended a Component Town Hall Meeting to hear what is being discussed regarding the restructuring of AHDI components? There are important changes and decisions being made regarding the structure of AHDI components and their governance. Plan to attend a Town Hall meeting where you can participate, ask questions, and make suggestions.
AHDI's Board of Directors, componentl leaders, and House of Delegates are spearheading a new initiative to ensure the long-term success, relevance, and business sustainability of our association's components. This project, called The Blueprint for Great Governance, is being lead by AHDI President-Elect Barb Marques, CMT, AHDI-F, and Speaker of the HOD Bonnie Monico, CMT, AHDI-F, with a group of team members. They are hosting a series of online Town Hall meetings to brainstorm new approaches, services, and models to best serve the needs of our members and position MTs for long-term success in this rapidly changing environment of healthcare.

Invitation to join the Capital Chapter
It's easy to become a member of the Capital Chapter. Everyone is invited to join our friendly group! We gladly welcome students, new MTs, experienced MTs, and anyone interested in the field of healthcare documentation.
We have members who live all over Texas--and some drive up to 4 hours one-way to attend our meetings and events.
Capital Chapter annual membership dues:
AHDI Members: $20 (students pay only $10)
Non-AHDI Members: $25 (students pay only $15)

Enjoy the benefits of networking with fellow MTs as well as educational opportunities offered by the Capital Chapter. Students are encouraged to join! We offer a mentor program for students and postgraduates. We also offer partial reimbursement of the exam fee to our members who earn the RMT or CMT credential.
