AHDI "POWER OF 10" CAMPAIGN
 
AHDI is launching a year-long campaign to raise $10 from 10,000 MTs by 2010 to support the association's advocacy efforts in Washington DC, where AHDI and MTIA are working hard to make sure YOU have a role in the future of the EHR.
 
Symposium attendees will have an opportunity to donate to the POWER OF 10 campaign at the event.  The Capital Chapter is excited to announce that we will match all attendee contributions!

SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT
                                 
Barb Marques, CMT, AHDI-F
AHDI Director and President Elect 
 
Barb has been in the medical transcription field for almost 35 years, working in both private practice and hospital settings.  She currently holds a position as senior transcriptionist for a community hospital in Hillsboro, Oregon.  She earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Idaho State University with a minor in nuclear science.  One of her first paid positions involved communicating with nuclear medicine technologists performing medical examinations and transcribing reports on some of those examinations.
 
Barb joined AHDI in 1982 and achieved her CMT credential in 1992 and FAAMT/AHDI-F designation in 2005.  She was honored as AHDI Practitioner of the Year in 2002.  Barb played an active part in the formation of the AHDI HOD Lead Team and served on the National Component Relations Task Force in 2005.  She held offices of president, secretary, and delegate for many years for local and state AHDI chapters before being elected to the AHDI Board of Directors in 2006.  Barb served as secretary for the BOD in 2007 and currently serves as 2009 President Elect.
 
In her current position as AHDI director, Barb is board liaison to the QA Special Interest Group, board liaison to the Component Association Support Team (CAST), and board partner for Alaska, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, North and South Dakota, and Colorado.  She is a supporting member of the International Affiliate Task Force, the EHR Committee, and the Membership Advisory Work Group.  She is participating in the revision of the QA Best Practices document as well as an update of the Dictation Best Practices Took Kit.  She is a member of the Content Development Committee for the Benchmark KB project and a regular contributor to Plexus, Advance, and other publications.
