The Capital Chapter is a component organization of AHDI (Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity).  The Chapter's main purpose is to provide educational, networking, and fellowship opportunities designed to encourage the advancement of excellence in medical transcription and healthcare documentation.  The Capital Chapter was originally chartered in 1983 as a component association of AAMT (American Association for Medical Transcription).  We are proudly celebrating our 27th anniversary in 2010.

The Capital Chapter has a diverse membership from the greater Austin and surrounding area.  Our members include MTs who work for hospitals, clinics, and transcription services, as well as home-based independent contractors and employees.  Meetings are usually held at Seton Medical Center in Austin.  We invite you to attend!  Make plans to attend the AHDI Annual Convention & Expo (ACE) in Austin August 4-7 (Hilton Austin)!

AHDI 2009 Integrity Awards - Annual Convention & Expo (Nashville)

We are pleased to announce the Capital Chapter is a nominee for the AHDI Membership Impact Award.  This is a new award in 2009 which serves to recognize an AHDI component organization that has engaged in unique initiatives and activities deemed to have had a measurable impact on component growth, retention, and/or professional development of its members. Update: The Pennsylvania Association of AHDI was awarded the Membership Impact Award at ACE in Nashville (August 1, 2009). Congratulations!

We are proud to announce that Capital Chapter member Kathy Muelker, CMT, is a nominee in two award categories: Member of the Year and Advocate of the Year. Kathy served as President of the Capital Chapter in 2007 and 2008 and is a current officer serving as our Chapter Representative to Texas AHDI. The Capital Chapter Board of Directors selected Kathy as our 2008 Member of the Year and nominated her for national Member of the Year, an award to highlight and recognize members at all levels of the Association who have demonstrated a consistent commitment to the association and its objectives and for whom the nomination year represents a period of unique, high-impact contribution. Update: Congratulations to Dianna Hall of Michigan who won the Member of the Year award and Laura Bryan of Texas who won the Advocate of the Year award!  Kathy Muelker was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" along with the 3 other nominees for Member of the Year.  Congratulations to all the nominees and winners!   Read more about the Integrity Award categories and nominees here. See the list of winners here.
